Announcing 2011 Missions Trips
INDIANA (JULY 9-16)
This is a trip for ages 13 through adult. We will travel to Anderson, Indiana to serve our brothers and sisters in Christ at Greenbriar Community Church. The trip will include conducting special services for their congregation and putting on a Vacation Bible School program, as well as doing cleaning and maintenance for the church.
Please pray for an effective ministry time as this group supports the body of Christ in Indiana.
COLOMBIA (AUGUST 7-15)
This is a trip is also for ages 19 through adult. We will be traveling to Medellin, Colombia to serve the City of Refuge Ministry under the leadership of Douglas Calvano. This ministry reaches out to the poor and needy in their city, as well as those who have been displaced and ravaged by years of war. Their ministries also include a single mothers' home, a homeless ministry, and a rehabilitation program with a farm and mini-market where participants can learn life skills. Registration is full for this trip.
Please pray for a fruitful missions experience, both in the hearts of the people of Columbia, and the members of the LWC missions team.
Home Missions
Our Home Missions focuses on outreach and social involvements in the United States outside the Poconos area. While this is still a relatively new ministry to LWC, we have taken teams to Anderson, Indiana, to a church in need of assistance. The teams were able to support the church with maintenance and cleaning, as well as conduct outreaches to the local community.
Groups from LWC have also ministered numerous times at Harlem Square Church in New York City, a mission church focused on reaching urban youth.
LWC continues to support these churches.
Foreign Missions
This ministry caters to long and short term missions in countries outside the United States. This includes supporting long term missionaries in various countries and organizing short term mission trips.
The missionaries and nations we have supported include: Africa, Afghanistan, Asia, Croatia, Guatemala, Haiti, Israel, Macedonia, and Zambia. Our mission team has taken trips to Guatemala and Macedonia where they were able to assist local missionaries in many ways.
We hope to expand our travels to other nations as well.
